The film shows a grim present day existence for each of the characters. Charles Stone’s character initially receives a phone call from his friend who is now on active duty in the Army, and who tells Stone he is “still in Iraq, watchin’ my ass.” Stone, who is listening to John McCain on television, has lost his house, his job and is perhaps supporting a friend who lives with him (and who was injured and has no health care). In another room, their friend Dookie is dramatically upset by the decline in the stock market figures displayed on his laptop computer screen, and attempts (and fails) to hang himself. During their phone call, a friend buzzes the intercom from the front door, where he is trapped by a hurricane, a probable allusion to Hurricane Katrina Bush Administration and FEMA. For most of the characters, the “Whassup?” has changed tone and meaning, to a moan rather than a greeting. and the widely-criticized response to it by the response to it by the Bush Administration and FEMA. For most of the characters, the “Whassup?” has changed tone and meaning, to a moan rather than a greeting.

The film ends with a call for political change and an exhortation to vote for Barack Obama on election day. It states in closing that it does not reflect the views of Anheuser-Busch Companies.[1]“
